Back at G.W.C. Stem Learning center, the campers worked together to create foam globes made from Play-foam and Styrofoam balls. Each group was given the task to engulf the Styrofoam balls with the Play-foam to ensure that their globes were secure. The kids had a blast meshing together different colors of Play-foam and pasting it onto their globes while still being able to learn how to work together in a group.
This activity brought imagination and creativity into the classroom as the students activated their social and thinking skills among their peers. A lot of these students aren't able to participate in group environments like this at home, so coming to camp everyday and interacting with each other allows them to open new windows and expand on their communication skills with others. At the end of the day, these students were able to achieve their task by working together and expressing themselves while creating foam globes.
