The Elementary Aviation Camp held at Rolling Hills Elementary School was yet another summer program here in Lancaster ISD that caught my eye.
During this STEM Camp, I really liked what I saw from the moment I peeked through the door, as if I were a teacher sneaking up on my class. The students were working so hard that I thought the teachers didn't even need to be in the room. The fifth graders showed wonderful communication, group working, and critical thinking skills while they worked on creating their own parachute. The way the instructor, Gary Roe, talked to his students was definitely what I enjoyed watching the most. With every question they threw at him, he had a question to throw back. He made his students think for themselves and with doing so, they found their own answers. Mr. Roe shared with me that his goal was that "...they leave smarter every single day and that I have enriched their lives every single day". Just from lurking around the classroom for a short moment of time, I can already tell that goal has been reached.
