Today a class of 4th grade students got the chance to begin testing their cruisers to see how the circumference of the wheel affects the distance the cruiser travels. The class concluded, according to the axial placement, that a heavier substance and larger wheel will allow the cruiser to go further in distance. The students very engaged and excited about what they were learning. After speaking with class instructor, Joshuah Davis, he shares his views on why it’s important for the students to be learning about the engineering field. “Based off our mission statement which is to get more minorities into the STEM field, they are able to see people that look like them in those roles as motivation for them to strive forward to become engineers.” He hopes the students will have a good experience while learning. He encourages them to work and learn as a team as well as seeing the fun behind STEM and how valuable it is in our everyday lives.
